Buster, the Bad Office Dog: What’s in a Name?

addtext_com_MjIxOTM0NDAxMjY

Hey! You up there! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Buster, the Bad Office Dog. You heard that right, I said Bad. I figured since I'm in the office with Joette all the time anyway, I may as well make myself useful and start earning my keep. Plus, why should Joette be the only one who gets a blog? I have some great stories, too! (more…)

Ignatia is for when our thinking is off

I’ve recently been embroiled in a family conflict. I won’t bore you with the details, but you might be comforted to know that I, too, have a couple of crazies in my family who cause conflict, just like everyone else does.

For those of us who have families large enough to be able to pick and choose who we associate and spend time with, we know that when the “crazy” behavior erupts, the best course of action is to tune them out and move on.

Confession time.

I used to smoke cigarettes … for years, even. The first time I tried, I felt nauseous.

Well, to be honest, it was more like the first few months that I forced myself to withstand that dreadful feeling.

Such is the power of peer pressure and the silliness of those teenage years. Indeed, peer pressure is what I caution families (and my own kids) against on a regular basis.

It’s what pediatricians and other doctors use, of sorts when they pressure mothers to give their kids antibiotics, steroids and other such medicaments.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

I love the name of this disease.

It kinda says it all since the rash often appears on the hands, feet, and in and around the mouth.

However, rashes can also appear on the buttocks, knees, elbows, and cause ulcers in the throat. But adding all those details would make the name waaay too long!

“Hand, Foot, Mouth, Buttocks, Knees, and Elbows Disease” just won’t do.
